Who has heard of ‘Burberry Jesus’?
Marvel Yarbrough – a Chicago-based rapper is a musical artist and is accused of wilful trademark infringement by the 164-year-old British fashion company – Burberry. Burberry accuses Yarbrough of using the Burberry trademark to promote himself and grow his fan base by unfairly trading off on Burberry’s goodwill.
Burberry should be focussing on its new summer campaign designed by Chief Creative Officer, Ricardo Tisci, and fronted by Naomi Campbell.

Perhaps disingenuously – after Yarbrough received a letter before action from Burberry’s legal team – he filed an application to change his legal name from Marvel Yarbrough to ‘Burberry Jesus’. Will this escape liability for Yarbrough ? Probably not! But who is advising him?
